Every year, Trestle hosts a benefit to strengthen and grow our non profit programming, support emerging artists, and better serve our community.

The benefit is also an opportunity to honor those who have made significant contributions to Trestle and to celebrate the artists and studio members who make Trestle sucha special place.

We hope you will join us for this year’s event!

The Trestle Annual Benefit will be held on November 14th, 2019 from 6-9, at Trestle Gallery, and will feature a silent auction of artworks donated by Trestle members, staff, friends, and supporters. This year we are proud to be featuring artworks by Bill Carroll, Mel Prest, Mari Renwick, Allison Maletz, Nick Naber, Margie Neuhaus, Will Hutnik, Becca Van K, Chrissy Scolaro, Emilie Selden, Joy Ude, Max Manning, Veronique Gambier, Derrick Velasquez, Shoshanna Weinberger, Paul Loughney, among many others! We are also excited to be partnering with Paddle8, so that you can preview and bid on auction works easily from your computer or phone. The evening will also include specialty drinks and hors d’oeuvres from local vendors, and a special participatory performance by Ayana Evans!

This year, we will be honoring artists Sa’dia Rehman and Michael Brennan. Sa’dia is a multidisciplinary artist whose work has been exhibited nationally and internationally. She is a former Trestle Visiting Artist Resident, during which time she facilitated our monthly open critiques— an integral component of our programming. Michael is a practicing artist, writer, and arts educator. He is one of our Critical Feedback Advisors, and has also served on Trestle’s advisory board since 2014. We are grateful to Sa’dia and Michael for their continued engagement and dedication to Trestle, and we are thrilled to honor them on this special occasion. We will be producing a limited edition risograph print with each of them, which will be available exclusively to Benefit ticket-holders.

Sa’dia Rehman (b. Queens, NY) is a multidisciplinary artist whose work explores how contemporary and historical images—in public and private records—communicate, consolidate and contest ideas about race, power and gender. Rehman has exhibited internationally, and was a nominee of the 2017 Joan Mitchell Foundation Painters and Sculptors Grant, a recipient of Aminah Brenda Lynn Robinson Grant (2018), Meredith Morabito and Henrietta Mantooth Fellowship (2018) and Ann Hamilton Travel Grant (2016). She has been awarded residencies at the NARS Foundation (2019), Edward Albee Foundation (2018), Byrdcliffe Woodstock (2018), Vermont Studio Center (2018), Rasquache Residency (2016), ASI/LMCC & Creative Capital (2011) and AIM Bronx Museum (2008).
