Critical Feedback Program
Trestle programs are designed to offer extended education to help fill the gap between traditional Masters in Fine Arts programs and real world applications, or as an alternative to the expense of higher arts education. The Trestle philosophy comes from a belief that artists can grow and learn from each other. With a studio in NYC, one of the biggest contemporary art meccas in the world, Trestle program participants have the ability to explore all that the city has to offer with a community of like-minded individuals. Trestle’s Critical Feedback Program participants work with art professionals who work in the “real” art world today, actively seeking and earning opportunities, with current connections, information, and relevant advice.
The Critical Feedback Program provides artists with a peer support network and regular critiques for six months to a year led by one of Trestle’s Program Advisors. Artists in the program also receive a discounted rate on a studio space at Trestle’s Greenwood Heights location at 62 18th Street, Brooklyn.
Frequently Asked Questions:
How is the Critical Feedback Program different from the Trestle Artist Residency?
The CF program is designed to be a critique group where peer learning is structured with the guide of an advisor. The TAR has more of a focus on advisor led critiques, individualized mentorship, and guest visitors. Also, whereas the TAR has required volunteer hours and an end of year exhibition, The CF Program does not. All other TAS membership benefits apply to both programs.
When is the next application deadline?
What is the time commitment?
There are required 3 hour monthly critiques for the six months of each session. They are scheduled for the same weeknight of the week, and are planned in advice. It is important not to miss any of those meetings. Other than that, time spent in the studio is up to the participants.
