Rhia Hurt- Executive DirectorRhia Hurt is a fine artist and educator currently based in New York City. She received her MA in Education from University of California at Santa Cruz in 2001. After teaching for several years, she went on to earn her MFA in Painting at the San Francisco Art Institute in 2009. Hurt has since shown her artwork internationally and her work is in private collections throughout the United States. In addition to her studio art practice, Hurt is also the Executive Director of Brooklyn Art Space & Trestle Gallery.
Katerina Lanfranco- Chief CuratorKaterina Lanfranco lives and works in New York City. She earned her MFA from Hunter College, City University of New York (Tony Smith Award). She earned her B.A. in Studio Art and Visual Theory & Museum Studies. Lanfranco has been a National Endowment for the Arts Creative Japan/US Creative Arts Fellow. Lanfranco teaches studio art at several universities and cultural institutions in the New York area. Lanfranco has exhibited internationally, and her artwork is in several permanent collections internationally. She is the founder and director of Rhombus Space, an experimental exhibition space in Brooklyn, NY, and represented by the Nancy Hoffman Gallery in New York.
Jen Nista- Exhibition ManagerJen Nista graduated with honors from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University with a BFA in drawing. She lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. Her body of work largely consists of textile, new media and video/performance art. Her most recent exhibitions include Laughing Out Loud at Trestle Gallery, Flux Hustle at CityBird Gallery, and FLOOR at Xoomba Loft. Additionally, she is co-founder of Waves Collective; a Brooklyn-based artist collective focusing on experimental art-based programming in alternative spaces, to foster dialogue between real people outside of institutional rhetoric.
Christina Kelly- Residency AdvisorChristina Kelly is a visual artist and filmmaker. With films, drawings and public projects Christina playfully engages with local ecology, geography and history. Her work has been presented at Proteus Gowanus, Rotunda Gallery, The Invisible Barn, video_dumbo, BAM, The New Festival, and Frameline. She has received support from the Brooklyn Arts Council's DCA, NYSCA and TIER grants, DOT Urban Art Program, and LMCC Swing Space. As a film and video editor she has worked with filmmakers Ramin Bahrani, Casper Andreas and the artist Judy Radul.
Jason Stopa- Residency AdvisorJason Stopa is painter and critic living in Brooklyn, NY. He received his BFA from Indiana University and his MFA from Pratt Institute. Recent exhibits include: "The Crayon Miscellany" at OMI (Ghent, NY), "Double Trouble" at Hionas Gallery (New York) and "Junction" at Ed Thorp Gallery (New York). He is a contributing writer to Art in America, Hyperallergic, Whitewall and The Brooklyn Rail. He teaches art and art criticism at the School of Visual Arts and Pratt Institute.
Adrienne Tarver- Residency AdvisorAdrienne is an artist that makes paintings, photographs and installations. She has an MFA in Painting and Drawing from the the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and a BFA from Boston University in Painting. She has exhibited and taught in cities across the US and Australia, and has attended residencies around the world including Caversham Centre for Artists and Writers in South Africa; Vermont Studio Center in Johnson, Vermont (receiving the Pavlis Fellowship), the League Residency at Vyt in Sparkill, NY (receiving the Distinguished Artist Fellowship) and Brooklyn Art Space/ Trestle Gallery in Brooklyn. In addition to her studio practice, Adrienne is a dedicated arts administrator working for The Center for Arts Education as well as the Residency Coordinator at Trestle Gallery.
