Trestle’s Community Classes Program offers instruction in a wide variety of artist techniques and theories, as well as training in professional practices. This program serves a dual purpose of educating artists and creating jobs for highly-trained teaching artists. The registration deadline for workshops is three days prior to the first session. "Melissa was patient, encouraging, and enjoyable to work with. I like the casual and playful environment. The combination of learning new techniques and experimenting with the materials and process."
- Lisa, 3 Session Printing and Mixed Media
"Mari is sweet, fun, attentive, and knowledgeable! I have recommended this workshop to two friends thus far. I believe the workshop has a lot to offer anyone that hasn't worked in this medium."
- Anjner, Encaustic
"I came into the class with an abstract painting background, but having not painted for some years, I elected to follow Melissa's guidance and found it to be a worthwhile experience to get back into painting."
- Brian, Abstract Painting
"Melissa was really great at explaining the process to me, since I was a total beginner. She was very organized, enthusiastic, and helpful."
- Jessica, Blockprinting
"I have taken drawing and watercolor with Allison Maletz at Trestle several times. She is an excellent teacher. She gives very clear help and instruction without being intrusive or critical."
- Lee, 5 Session Intro to Drawing
"Sarah was helpful, and kept the class pretty well together even as people were on slightly different steps. She was friendly and fun to work with."
- Melissa, Bookbinding
"Melissa explained things clearly and allowed for creativity even within the confines of creating a color wheel. I had the chance to learn something new and be creative."
- Liza, Color Theory
"I was really happy with the class, it was exactly what i was looking for - an open space in which I could work, and only get feedback if I wanted, so I could have freedom to do my own thing, but also have the opportunity to learn about different artists' techniques and tricks of the trade."
- Rivka, Open Studio Painting
"I highly recommend this class. Rachel makes you feel comfortable and using the sewing machine was a breeze. I've taken other sewing classes and this one by far is the best."
- Cynthia, Sewing 101
"I am truly a beginner, never have had any art training, and even though I was in a class of professionals - I didn't feel uncomfortable at all! Thanks!!"
