3 Session Color Theory


3 Session Color Theory meets August 7, August 14 and August 21 from 6:30 - 9:30 pm. 

Course Description: 
In this three-class workshop (a total of 9 hours), students will create class exercises in class that will become homework. Using acrylic paint, students will learn how to create exact matches in hue, intensity, values, complimentary colors, and opposite values and intensities.

 Materials to Bring:

  • pencil and eraser
  • 10” x 10” square of wrapping paper or fabric with colors & pattern you enjoy
  • your favorite paint brushes
  • sketch book for notes

Instructor Bio:
Melissa Staiger is a committed professional abstract/non-objective fine artist.  She has a BFA from Maryland Institute, College of Art and a MFA from Pratt Institute. Staiger has exhibited in group and solo exhibitions across the country. Find out more details at
